    Lyne F.C V Yateley United 09/09/17

After a very busy pre-season it was nice to get back to competitive football once more with our season opener against Yateley United.

Yateley got relegated from the Surrey Elite last season and Lyne was prepared for a close, tough match.

Lyne started sharply holding good possession for long periods, but when it came to the final third our finishing was letting us down with so many near misses and goalkeeper saves. It took us until the later part of the first half to finally get the breakthrough, but this breakthrough didn’t come from open play… it came by way of a penalty which Felipe converted brilliantly.

The half-finished with Lyne 1-0 and to be honest not doing a lot wrong apart from not taking the chances we had created.

The second half got underway and Lyne seemed to have more purpose and intent but still doing the right things with retaining the ball and moving it quickly. It wasn’t long before we were rewarded with our second goal which seemed to fuel us up even more.

Goals three, four and five followed not long after with Frithy and Jordan unstoppable!

    Final score 5-0 Lyne

A great start for Lyne Seniors League campaign and very encouraging going forwards.
