Hampton could not follow up their win over East Thurrock as they were thrashed 4-0 by Concord Rangers at the Aspect Arena.

    By Jack Cunningham

A disastrous first half which saw Hampton go in at half time 3-0 down left the Beavers with too much to do and they conceded a fourth with the last kick of the game.

Hampton will rue missing some golden chances as they were punished by a more clinical team.

The first goal arrived in the seventh minute as Liam Nash got down the right, squared the ball to Sam Blackman and he curled in from the edge of the box.

Concord doubled their lead 10 minutes later from the penalty spot as Yado Mambo was adjudged to have fouled Jack Midson in the box. Nash blasted the ball down the middle to make it 2-0.

Hampton responded well through Ricky Wellard as he surged into the box and forced a save from Sam Beasant.

Mambo was then substituted off after injuring himself in a challenge with Alex Wall and James Hammond was brought on in his place.

Hampton hit the post as Rhys Murrell-Williamson bamboozled his man and whipped a cross in which Dickson ingeniously back-heeled towards goal but the effort hit the post.

Then, Murrell-Williamson went through one-on-one but slid his effort wide of the far post.

This was punished instantly by Concord as they caught Hampton asleep and Ahmed Abdulla floated a free kick into the box which was flicked on and found Midson six-yards out, who couldn't miss.

Hampton started the second half with intensity but couldn't carve out any real chances.

They finally forced a save from Beasant as Dickson fired a shot straight at the keeper.

Gary made a double substitution as Oliver Sprague and Ogo Obi were brought on for Corcoran and Murrell-Williamson.

As the game was petering out, Jack Connors and Sprague forced Beasant into a couple of fine saves, before Concord added a fourth.

A long ball over the top found Nash who advanced into the box and drilled a shot under Tom Lovelock to cap a miserable night for the Beavers.

They will certainly be hoping for a better result on Saturday away to Gloucester City.

    Manager Reaction: Gary McCann

"Both goals defensively are horrendous and it is something we need to address, the changes to the back line obviously didn't help.

"We have created some chances and got into some great areas but we just haven't put the ball in the net.

"Efficiency at both ends of the pitch is the difference between the two teams tonight.

"We have had a real frank, open chat in that changing room and pretty heart-to-heart and I think there needs to be some changes."
