We have been advised that former player Ron Griffin has passed away.

Ron made his debut during the 1960/61 season, joining from Dulwich Hamlet. He made 145 appearances, scoring 56 goals. During his time with Hampton the club won the Surrey Senior League Championship in 1963/64 and the Spartan League Championship the following season. Ron broke his leg in March 1965 (playing Sunday Football!) and never appeared for the club again.

Ron died unexpectedly on 6th April. His funeral will be at the SW Middlesex Crem, Hounslow Road, Hanworth, TW13 5JH on Friday 17th May, at 2.20pm

    Hampton mad likes this.
  2. I remember Ron playing for us and was a good player. Seems strange to modern supporters that players would play both on a Saturday and Sunday but they often did. It was the days of the ‘amateur ‘ so clubs could not stop them. I may be wrong but think Lance Wintle also picked up an injury in a Sunday game.
After he finished playing I often saw Ron at Brentford.
